REPORT AN ISSUE
If you are having problems at work, or if you think that your rights as an employee are not being met properly, please get in touch with the union as soon as possible. As per our contract, there is a 30 day deadline from an event occurring (or the last occurrence of a recurring event) for the union's ability to file a grievance with the university. So it is highly important that you get in touch with us as soon as you become aware of a problem. If you are not sure whether the problem is work-related, get in touch with us, and we can clarify for you.
How do I know if I have a grievance?
Did you receive a Description of Duties form? (Article 2, Appendix E)
Are you being asked to perform additional duties not on that form? (Article 2)
Did your supervisor change your duties without official notification? (Article 2)
Are you working more than your time-base on your Appointment Letter? (Article 2, Article 26)
Have your hours been cut? (Article 2)
Have you been told your hours roll over or "will balance out" throughout the semester? (Article 26)
Did you perform TA/GA job duties for credit only? (Article 1, Article 22)
Are you paying for a mandatory course required for employment? (Article 22)
Are you experiencing any kind of harassment or discrimination at your job? (Article 16)
Is your paycheck missing? (Article 26)
Are you being told you won't be paid for any amount of hours worked? (Article 26)
And anything else that seems off to you. (See our full CBA here.)
WHAT ABOUT MY DEPARTMENT/SUPERVISOR?
Grievances are filed against your campus, not against your department or supervisor.
It is up to your campus to enforce our Collective Bargaining Agreement and ensure departments comply with fair labor practices.
If you think you may have a grievance, please contact us as soon as possible so we can help you.
